This website provides all the essential steps to ensure the correct and safe use of the LIAISON® Q.S.E.T. Quick Pick device. 

Before starting the stool sample collection process, we strongly recommend that you read all instructions carefully or watch the demonstration video available on this page.

Intended Use
The LIAISON® Q.S.E.T. (Quantitative Stool Extraction and Test) Quick Pick is designed for at-home collection of human stool samples.
It can be used by:

  • Individuals aged 14 and older, or adult caregivers collecting samples from children aged 2 to 13.

Once collected, the sample is prepared for analysis in a professional laboratory using stool tests from the LIAISON® family of automated analysers.

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS:

To ensure a smooth and safe experience with the LIAISON® Q.S.E.T. Quick Pick, please take a moment to review the following important guidelines. 
These precautions are in place to protect both you and the integrity of your sample.

  • Proper Handling: Please follow the provided instructions carefully when handling the sample.
  • When Not to Use: Do not use the LIAISON® Q.S.E.T. Quick Pick device if you are experiencing: 

    • Diarrhea;
    • Liquid stool,
    • Blood in your stool (e.g., due to bleeding hemorrhoids or menstruation).

    In these cases, we kindly ask you to consult your healthcare provider for alternative collection methods.

  • Safety with the Liquid: Do not drink the liquid inside the sample tube. Avoid contact with skin or eyes. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.
  • Device Use: The LIAISON® Q.S.E.T. device is for external use only. Do not insert it into your body.
  • Recommended Protection: For added safety and hygiene, wearing gloves is recommended during sample collection.

STORAGE AND STABILITY

To ensure optimal performance and safety, please follow these simple instructions for storing your LIAISON® Q.S.E.T. Quick Pick.

 

Before Opening the Plastic bag
Store the device at room temperature (2–24°C) until the expiration date indicated on the packaging.
Keep the device away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
Store out of reach of young children to prevent accidental handling.

 

Before Use
Always check the expiration date printed on the device and/or package label.
Do not use the collection kit if it is past its expiration date.

TIMELY RETURN

The sample must be returned to the collection site within 24 hours of collection to ensure its integrity. If you're unable to return the sample within this timeframe, please wait to begin the collection process until you're ready.

Ready to Collect Your Stool Sample?

Read this instruction carefully and follow these steps to collect your stool. Children between the ages of 2 and 13 must be assist by an adult for stool collection. Return sample within 24 hours of collection. Don’t collect if you can’t meet this timeframe. 

 

Wait until you feel the natural urge to have a bowel movement, then take your kit with you to the bathroom and proceed with the next steps.

 

You're now ready to begin the collection process with confidence.

Verify all components before sample collection. If any are missing, contact your healthcare provider.

    Place only the provided ice pack in the freezer for at least 10 hours before sample collection.

    Use adhesive strips to place stool paper under the seat and over the toilet bowl.

    Sit on the toilet and collect stool on the paper. Avoid urine. If stool is liquid or bloody, contact your healthcare provider. Once the bowel movement is complete and stool is on the collection paper, stand up.

    Unscrew only the blue cap of the sample tube and remove the sampling wand. Do NOT unscrew the clear cap.

    Collect stool by touching the sampling wand to 3–5 different areas in sequence. Do not return the sampling wand to the tube between collections. Stool collection from a diaper is an acceptable alternative following the provided instructions.

    Ensure the grooves are fully coated with stool. Insert the sampling wand back through the opening of the tube and tightly screw into place. Excess stool will be removed from the wand by the inner funnel.

    Find the label on the back of the leaflet, fill it in clearly, remove it.

    Attach the completed label to the bottom part of the sample tube, making sure not to cover the existing label.

    Put the sample tube in the biohazard bag with absorbent pad. Ensure the bag is tightly sealed.

    Place the biohazard bag containing the sample tube andthe absorbent pad together with the frozen ice pack inside the insulated pouch.

    Peel off the liner and use the adhesive strip to seal the insulated pouch.

    The stool collection paper may now be carefully removed from the toilet bowl. Throw it into the toilet and wait 5 minutes. Flush down the eco-friendly biodegradable collection paper.

    Stool collection completed! The collection site must receive your sample within 24 hours of collection. Store the collected sample at 2–25 °C (35–77 °F), away from heat and direct sunlight. Do not freeze after the collection. Keep the collected sample out of reach of children.

Do NOT drink the liquid inside the sample tube. 
Do NOT let the liquid touch your skin or your eyes. If the liquid comes in contact with your skin or eyes, rinse thoroughly with water. Use of gloves is recommended. 
Do NOT insert the sample tube or any part of it into your body.

What should I do before collecting the sample?

Wash your hands with soap and water. Make sure you have all the materials from the LIAISON Q.S.E.T. Quick Pick and that the ice-pack is frozen. Review the instructions carefully before starting.

Do I need to prepare in any special way?

No special preparation is needed. You can eat and take your medications as usual, unless otherwise instructed by your Doctor.

Where should I collect the sample?

You can collect it in your home bathroom. Just make sure you have all the materials from the kit.

When should I collect the sample?

Store the LIAISON Q.S.E.T. Quick Pick at room temperature and do not use past the expiration date.

What if I can’t return the sample today?

Before starting the collection, make sure you can return the sample within 24 hours. Confirm the laboratories operating hours and do not collect the sample before weekends or holidays.
